The Early Literacy and Numeracy Initiative (ELNI) aims to improve outcomes for years K-3 students in lower socio-economic schools.
The major emphasis of the Program is to provide professional development for Early Childhood Teachers.
Networkers and District Facilitators will work with participating schools to plan activities for the implementation of the Literacy component within the school's management plan.
Eden Public School Teacher Ms Tanja Vogt, has been performing the dual role of ELNI Networker and classroom teacher. This year Tanja has also added Reading Recovery Teacher to her hat collection! Here at Eden Public School we are certainly fortunate to have Tanja's expertise in her combined roles promoting not only the ideals of the ELNI program, but also complimenting those of the Priority Schools Funding Program and our School Goals.

Mrs Marilyn Cohen implemented the Literacy and Numeracy Program for Koori Students in 2007. Students showed a remarkable improvement throughout the year and produced some innovative work. They were presented with Certificates at the end of the year to reward their hard work and progress.
Mrs Cohen says "Thank you to the positive efforts of all the children involved in the Koori Education Support Program this year. They have worked very hard and improved both in their literacy and numeracy skills. They have risen to the challenge and I have enjoyed working with them immensely."
