PRINCIPAL'S ADDRESS

Mr Davidson addressed the Assembly, focusing on the theme for this year's Education Week - "A Love of Learning - NSW Public Schools Leading the way." He mentioned that a fundamental fact to fostering a love of learning and offering new and challenging programs is the quality of teaching provided by the school. Referring to a memo from the Director General of Education, Michael Coutts-Trotter, Mr Davidson reiterated some of his comments eg `Great teaching demands an extraordinary amalgam of intellect, craft, character, creativity, subject knowledge, humour and love of the student." He also mentioned that, "The Public Education system welcomes all students, to share with all types of families and communities the responsibility for all aspects of a child's development - their physical, intellectual, creative, emotional, social and moral development." Mr Davidson spoke of the high standard of teaching and learning happening in NSW Public Schools such as ours. He referred to Education Week as an opportunity to acknowledge remarkable achievements of teachers and also those of our students, family and community."
